Weil Operations

Fractional COO and interim operations directorI pick up what others leave behind.

For growing companies and scale-ups that need one to two days a week of director-level operational capacity from someone who rolls up their sleeves.

What I do

Sooner or later, growing companies get stuck on their own operations. A full-time COO often isn't needed yet at that point, but someone who keeps an eye on the whole and actually gets things finished is.

As a fractional COO I am your part-time operations director, one to two days a week. I think along with the management team and do the work myself, including whatever falls between the cracks.

  • Contracts and suppliers
  • Procurement
  • IT and Microsoft 365
  • Housing and facilities
  • Insurance
  • GDPR and compliance

I draft, review and negotiate contracts so that they work for both parties. For the legal review I work with a regular specialist who holds a law degree and a PhD in IT and law.

The business scan

I spend a day inside your business and write a report on where time and money are leaking away. It's a low-threshold way to see whether working together makes sense.

  1. Introduction

We discuss what you're running into and what I need to see on the day.

  2. A day on site

I shadow the work, talk to the people who do it and review contracts, suppliers, IT and processes.

  3. Report and review

You receive a report with findings and priorities, which we go through together.

What you get

  • Findings on contracts, suppliers, IT and processes
  • The things currently falling between the cracks, listed in one place
  • Concrete priorities: what first, what later and what to leave

Fixed price €1,495 excluding VAT. Everything I see during the scan stays confidential.

Background

At NOVI University of Applied Sciences I was responsible for day-to-day IT, facilities, procurement and partnerships during the years in which the organisation grew, right up to its sale.

Almost all contracts also went through me, from partners and rent to lease cars, insurance and compliance. I always worked in the interest of the company and its shareholders, not my department.

One example: when NOVI entered into a partnership with another large university of applied sciences in Utrecht, the agreements came from their side. I rewrote them so they served the interests of both parties, and the university was so pleased that it asked me to give a workshop on it.

10 → 80employees at NOVI
€2M → €10MNOVI revenue
€200k → €1Mpartner revenue in two years
Salecontracts, IT and facilities prepared and handed over
  • Corrected VAT errors in lease contracts and renegotiated the insurance package
  • Won a court case thanks to a carefully built file
  • Full migration to Microsoft 365, SharePoint and 3CX telephony
  • GDPR, health and safety (RI&E) and the NRTO quality mark set up and maintained

Before that, from 1994 to 2011, I ran my own IT companies, with several branches and around 30 staff.

What is a fractional COO?

An operations director who works with you part-time, usually one to two days a week, bringing director-level experience in-house without the cost of a full-time role.

What sets it apart from an interim manager, which companies it suits and what it costs is explained on the fractional COO page.
