A fractional COO is an operations director who works in your business part-time, usually one to two days a week. You get director-level experience without the cost and commitment of a full-time role.
When do you need one?
Sooner or later, growing companies get stuck on their own operations. Revenue and the team grow, but the way the business is run doesn't keep up. Recognisable signs are:
- The founder or managing director still runs operations on the side, alongside sales and strategy.
- Contracts renew automatically and nobody knows exactly what is running.
- Suppliers, lease cars, rent and insurance were arranged once and never reviewed since.
- IT and Microsoft 365 were set up ad hoc by whoever happened to know about it.
- GDPR and compliance have been on the to-do list for years.
A full-time COO is often too early or too expensive at that stage, but you do need someone who keeps an eye on the whole and actually gets things finished.
Fractional COO or interim manager?
Both bring outside experience, but the way they work differs.

I work in both ways, and which one fits depends on what's going on.
What I take over
I take over the operational work that falls between the cracks, think along with the management team and do the work myself.
- Contracts and suppliers. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating them so they work for both parties. For the legal review I work with a regular specialist who holds a law degree and a PhD in IT and law.
- Procurement. An overview, better terms and no duplicate subscriptions.
- IT and Microsoft 365. A workplace that is secure and simply works.
- Housing and facilities. Rent, fit-out, lease cars and everything that keeps the office running.
- Insurance. Cover that fits the business as it is now, not as it was five years ago.
- GDPR and compliance. Set up and embedded, so you can demonstrate it.
Rate
For projects and longer engagements I make a tailored proposal in advance. Working together usually starts with the business scan, a day inside your business for €1,495 excluding VAT.

With a one-day business scan for a fixed price of €1,495 excluding VAT. You then receive a report with findings and priorities, after which we decide together whether and how to continue.
Do you work on site or remotely?
Both. I work throughout the Netherlands and from Spain. I'm on site for the business scan and at key moments, while the rest of the work can also be done remotely.
What exactly do you take over?
The operational work that falls between the cracks: contracts and suppliers, procurement, IT and Microsoft 365, housing and facilities, insurance, GDPR and compliance.
What does it cost?
My hourly rate is €110 excluding VAT. For projects and longer engagements I make a tailored proposal in advance. The business scan costs a fixed €1,495 excluding VAT.
